Liekie Fouche
Liekie Fouché's work can be described as contemplative depictions of silence and isolation. The boundaries are blurred between dream and reality, past and future. A freedom from the constraints of time and space is found where logic is replaced by anticipation of the extraordinary.
Loeritha Saayman
"In an era of political, economic and even environmental change, it fuels insecurity and uncertainty. Our situation in times of the current pandemic, gives us time to re-evaluate our place in the world and how we share and care about it. The artist takes stock of her own life by choosing to upcycle used materials."
Loeritha Saayman obtained her degree in Visual Arts at UNISA. She has had 8 solo exhibitions since 2004 and takes part in group exhibitions locally and abroad. Loeritha is also involved in various community projects on a regular basis. She acts as a judicator at the National Eisteddfod Academy annually, and serves on the council of the Association of Arts, Pretoria.
Saayman's art finds homes in numerous private and corporate collections and proudly forms part of the permanent collections of the Pretoria Art Museum, Polokwane Art Museum, North-West University, the office of former president, Thabo Mbeki, SANAVA and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture in China, where she represented South Africa in 2013, on a cultural exchange program for African Artists. She was in art residency in France for three months at the end of 2015, and again in 2019. During the last residency she had the opportunity to show her work at Tour du Monde en 14H, a group show held at the Citè International des arts, which formed part of the Paris design week.
Mia van Wyk
"I am inspired by the full scale of life; from tiny bacteria to processes that span the planet. Through painting, I explore the complex connections between species, and question our role as humans in this beautiful and abundant eco-system. I am currently examining our impact on nature and through realistic painting techniques celebrate the beauty and intricacies of animals, insects, birds and other natural objects.
I work with oil paint, charcoal, collage on wooden or stretched canvas. I hope to bring awareness of our responsibility towards nature and other species through my art. I remain hopeful and motivated by the potential that resides in every human to become conscious of this connection, to feel and show empathy and compassion towards all other beings."
Milton Miltiades
"During the chaos to the lockdown, I was looking through a book from the Louvre, and became mesmerised by one of Agostino Carracci's drawings and its unbelievable sensitivity. This drawing is thought to be a portrait of his brother Annibale. To me it emphasised the importance of the cherished people in one's life."
Miltiades was born in Cyprus, in 1960, and obtained his B.A.(FA) at UNISA in 1993. His last exhibition, "myroPhoroi" was at the Association of Arts Pretoria in 2019.
