Neil Badenhorst
NEIL BADENHORST (b. 1995) is an artist and illustrator based in Pretoria. Badenhorst's practice is largely concerned with concepts such as liminality, multilayered spaces and experiences, queer experience, the romanticism of the mundane and ritual process. These themes are explored within illustrated collaged dreamscapes, in which characters are swallowed up in the ever-expanding worlds Badenhorst maps out. He is currently studying towards a Masters in Illustration, exploring crisis heterotopias and ritual space within illustrated fantasy worlds and narratives.
Philip Badenhorst
"Four tiny paintings dealing with concepts and stories about the cryptic sky, land and a timeless way of living.
The emphasis is on the artworks as embodied experience, and the creative act as a dynamic and self-reliant proses."
Badenhorst's career as a painter includes almost forty solo exhibitions and he has participated in nearly one hundred group exhibitions in South Africa and abroad.
Thelma van Rensburg
I exist in multiples series:
Trauma in childhood in the form of narcissistic abuse causes severe mental and physical distress throughout the life span of the abuse victim. Psychologist argue that severe emotional abuse or neglect in childhood causes a fragmentation of the self where certain parts of the victim's self becomes disassociated or split off as a maladaptive protective response to the trauma. The person disassociates the trauma and parts of him/herself to survive the abuse.
"The artworks that I created is an attempt to visually express this phenomenon from my own personal experience with trauma and my struggle to find a stable sense of self. The process involved small ink paintings of grotesque female figures that I created in 2013. These were layered on top of each other in photoshop, creating distorted, chaotic and dramatic lines confusing the outlines and stability of the figure. In addition, a single identifiable face was layered over each figure, confusing the identity of the subject. This confusion as well as the distress that it causes, is what I am trying to bring across to the viewer."
Van Rensburg was born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1969. She always had an interest in art, but did not pursue it as a career until 2004. Before venturing into the world of art Thelma completed a B.A Honours degree in Physical education in 1997 and a B.A Honours degree in Psychology in 2002. In 2004 she decided to study art full time and received her B.Tech degree in Fine Arts at Tshwane University of Technology in 2007. In 2016 she completed a Masters of Arts degree in Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria titled, Uneasy bodies, femininity and death:
Representing the female corpse in fashion photography and selected contemporary artworks.
Since graduating, she has participated in eight solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions throughout South Africa. Her work has featured in prestigious competitions such as Sasol New Signatures, Thami Mnyele Fine Arts awards and the Sanlam Vuleka Arts competition. From 2015 until 2018 she also attended three artist residencies through Transart Institute for creative research in Berlin and Mexico.

Wayne Vivier
"I have been using repetition as a device lately. It highlights the subtle differences between the copies and the contingency within the artmaking process. When taken together, I wonder if these repetitions reveal the truth more? Is this a way of seeing in more dimensions? Do I get a better sense of what is real?
The pervasive vertical pattern on the surface is like a text that speaks some unknown language. It speaks of a language that precedes and shapes our thought. This meta language, that functions mainly beyond our consciousness, precedes and shapes our reality. This pattern on the surface speaks of a text that makes all other text possible."
Wayne Vivier is an award winning artist practicing in Pretoria, South Africa. He was born in 1976 in Welkom and raised in Pretoria. After obtaining a B. Sc Computer Science at UNISA and working as a software developer for six years in Johannesburg, he returned to Pretoria to continue his art studies at Tshwane University of Technology where he obtained his M. Tech Fine Arts in March 2011. He has held six solo exhibitions, participated in numerous curated exhibitions and national art competitions including, Sasol new signatures, ABSA l'Atelier and Thami Mnyele.

Willie Van Rensburg
In his work Van Rensburg prefers to use acrylic, oils and mixed media. His style is impressionistic in essence, yet bold with the use of vivid colours. He favours African inspired themes but also indulges his passion for the naïve and naïve ethnic style.
His works ranges in size from miniatures to large canvases and it is noticeable that he is strongly influenced by his graphic design background.
Over the years Van Rensburg has held many successful solo and group exhibitions countrywide.
He has been commissioned by various major corporate institutions throughout South Africa notably the Vodacom head office in Midrand and Pentad Quantity Surveyors. His work also hangs in the ABSA Bank collection, Pretoria Art Museum, Polokwane Art Museum, BMW head office in Munich, Germany, the office of the former state president Nelson Mandela and in numerous private collections nationally and internationally.
