"In my paintings, I strive to recreate the frailty of life, capturing fleeting moments which delicately balances with continuous transformation and quietly witnessing change in our bittersweet existence.
I seek a relationship with our delicate and vulnerable environment in a human world. A shared space in which to explore the exceptional in the ordinary and the sublime in the simple. I create a sub-reality in layered imagery that evokes a mysterious quality, a feeling of loss or distant memories, lyrical and detailed."
Madelein Marincowitz is a South African artist currently living and working in Knysna, where she draws inspiration from the beautiful natural environment.
