Little Somethings of my Nothingness

What on the surface may look like simple representations of abstraction, these artworks in fact represent a personal reflection of the artist's own life.
The use of mixed media; acrylic paint, oil pastels, charcoal and oils suggest the constant diversity we as humans face, which is an inseparable part of our existence, whether it be through the interaction with other people, emotions, situations or experiences.
The meticulously juxtaposed media on the artwork surface, creates an oozing sense of vibrant energy. Bright and contrasting colours are used in a way in which the artist depicts fleeting moments and light.
The mark making and structural drawings represent an outward reflection towards society and its search for light. Without light, our reflections are lost, and we become 'Somethings within a Nothingness'. The use of line through a 'sgraffito' technique is enthused by artist, Antoni Tapies. Tapies often refers to 'tachism' when describing his own work. 'Tachism' means to 'leave marks' or to stain'.
The repeated dots, lines and scratches within the compositions represent the memories of our reflected inner light. The random forms and organic patterns portray our inability to fully control our lives and that sometimes light and the reflection of light becomes our only salvation within our chaotic existence.
