Hilton Edwards' unique style of art is distinctively modern and abstract. His work explores the realms of consciousness and its relationship to matter and spirit. This inspiration is expressed by the use of play of emotions, shapes, texture, colour and layered finishes.
His art explores the elements of colour and substance by employing a variety of mediums and his applications of these various mediums explore space and the illusions
it creates.
Edwards is a self-taught artist and his artwork is represented in private and corporate collections, locally and abroad. Roche Pharmaceuticals, The Saxon Boutique Hotel, Chancellor House, Virgin Mobile, FNB Private Clients Division, Gordon Froud, all in Johannesburg, Coca Cola in Port Elizabeth, Indigo Bay Island Resort Hotel and TCB Media in Cape Town, Bazaruto Island, KanakiaSpaces in Mumbai, India, to name but a few.
His work has been exhibited in various galleries in South Africa, in the UK, USA, Singapore, India, Switzerland, Mauritius and Reunion Island.
He has established and owned art galleries over the past decade and as an art consultant, he has curated numerous solo and group exhibitions both locally and abroad.
At present he is concentrating on his own career as a fulltime professional artist.
Besides his passion for art, Edwards is interested in African Culture and has studied Vedic Philosophy over the past twenty-seven years. He makes regular trips to India, on pilgrimage and for research and study. The mystical aspects of Indian Culture and Philosophy have captured and aroused his inner self. From 2006 - 2008 he resided in a small fishing village on the Arabian Coast of Goa, India, where he opened an art studio under swaying coconut palms and the cool ocean breeze.
