Making art is like breathing to me. It’s part of how I express what I feel and see in the world around me. With my art I can say something suddenly and loudly, because you see, words evade me most of the time!
My first love is oil paint on canvas and my paintings are bright and bold. In contrast, when I work in ink, Jik and pencil, my work becomes more loose and playful.
Adelé Joubert was born in Upington in 1975 and took her first steps in Boegoeberg, Northern Cape. After her father suddenly died, her mother moved the Family to Cape Town for a few years and then to Potchefstroom. And it’s in Potchefstroom where the artist Hennie Kruger, her then art teacher, awoke her love for art.
After Adelé got married she and her husband moved to Pretoria where she took part in numerous group exhibitions as well as two of the Sanlam New Signatures Exhibitions.
After the arrival of two daughters everything on the art side became a little more quiet. It was only during Covid that she really took up the brushes and started to paint again.
Adelé and her family now lives in beautiful Ramsgate on the South Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Her medium of choice is oil paint on canvas but she also works in pencil and ink and Jik, and stitching on her artwork with needle and thread elevates her work into another dimension.
The beauty in everyday life inspires her to capture a moment in time full of colour and emotion. She uses her art to express her mood, feelings, emotions, et cetera.
Adelé always strives to better herself and embrace originality in her art. Her motto for her art is something the artist Andy Warhol said: “Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”
PLEASE NOTE THAT BUYERS IN PRETORIA WILL ALSO NEED TO PAY A COURIER FEE AS ADELE IS IN KWA-ZULU NATAL
