Cattle have had a long and varied relationship with humans and art. In many cultures, cattle have been a source of food, clothing, and transportation. They have also played a significant role in agriculture and have been used as a form of currency and wealth.
In terms of art, cattle have often been depicted in paintings, sculptures, and other forms of artistic expression. They have been revered as symbols of strength and fertility, and have been depicted in a variety of settings, from pastoral landscapes to religious scenes.
In addition to their practical uses, cattle have also played a symbolic role in many cultures and have been used to represent a variety of concepts, such as abundance and the cycles of life. In Hinduism, for example, cows are seen as symbols of wealth, strength, and motherly love, and are often depicted in art and revered as sacred animals. In the Afrikaner culture it depicts the historical importance of the Great Trek.
Overall, the relationship between cattle and humans has been complex and multifaceted and has been reflected in a wide range of artistic expression throughout history.
Evan Antonites was born and raised in Pretoria and at a young age fostered a love for visual literacy, especially with comics that he could read visually. 2011 he started teaching Visual Arts and was guided and inspired by his mentor Peter Binsbergen. His teaching philosophy is to guide his students to explore what interests them. This kept his interests in other media open. In 2014 he started his studies in Fine Arts at Unisa. Paul Cooper inspired his interest in sculpture and symbolism. In 2015 he taught in the Middle East where he explored 3d Printing and Virtual Reality. 2018 he settled in Roodepoort teaching at an Online School. Presently Evan Antonites' work focuses on his "Getting back to basics" theme and redesigned his modus operandi by focusing on the basics of art, rock art, identity and Romanticism of the land.
