"Art is an epiphany in a coffee cup"

"I have a fascination with the human condition and the interconnectiveness with my surroundings. I use bright explosive colours to give expression to inner feelings. I use symbolism in my work. This alludes to births and stations and spaces, elements to discover and hidden messages."
I was born in 1954 in Lichtenburg, a small town in the North West Province. It was mainly a farmers community, a flat harsh landscape with miles and miles of maize and red sand. I learned to escape life and the environment by drawing and reading mythological stories. This transported me to a world of endless imagination.
I studied BA Fine Art at UNISA and my world opened up.
I've had two solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions. I have partaken in the prestideous SASOL NEW SIGNATURE competition at the Pretoria Art Museum 1998.
My work is represented in South Africa as well as Belgium and Canada.
